He learned to read at his grandfather’s side, among boxing magazines and pulp novels. By primary seven he was writing love poems for classmates; by secondary school he was editing a hand-written class magazine and sending stories to Fah Muang Thai and Chaiyaphruek.พ่อหัดอ่านหนังสือข้างตา ท่ามกลางหนังสือมวยและนวนิยาย ป.๗ ก็เริ่มเขียนกลอนรักให้เพื่อน ม.ต้น ทำหนังสือลายมือให้เพื่อนในห้องอ่าน และส่งเรื่องสั้นไปฟ้าเมืองไทยและชัยพฤกษ์
In 1974 he left Ramkhamhaeng University after two months to write for Athipat, the student newspaper. His column “Chor Makok” grew into the novel Tambon Chor Makok. After 6 October 1976 he went into the jungle as Comrade Roi, and kept writing there.ปี ๒๕๑๗ พ่อเรียนรามคำแหงได้สองเดือนก็ออกไปทำหนังสือพิมพ์อธิปัตย์ คอลัมน์ “ช่อมะกอก” โตขึ้นเป็นนวนิยายตำบลช่อมะกอก หลัง ๖ ตุลา ๒๕๑๙ พ่อเข้าป่าในชื่อสหายร้อย และเขียนต่อไม่หยุด
Back in the city from 1981 he wrote for Matuphum, Hi-Class and Thanon Nangsue, then went freelance: novels, stories, poems, biographies of luk thung songwriters, essays, and albums of his own songs. For a while he and our mother ran a building-supplies shop in Kanchanaburi. Home was Tha Sao, under the bamboo.กลับเมืองปี ๒๕๒๔ พ่อทำงานที่มาตุภูมิ ไฮคลาส ถนนหนังสือ แล้วออกมาเป็นนักเขียนอิสระ เขียนนวนิยาย เรื่องสั้น กวี ชีวประวัติครูเพลงลูกทุ่ง ความเรียง และออกเทปเพลงของตัวเอง ช่วงหนึ่งพ่อกับแม่ทำร้านวัสดุก่อสร้างที่กาญจนบุรี บ้านของเราคือท่าเสา ใต้กอไผ่
After the coup of 22 May 2014 the junta ordered him to report. He refused, and left. He never came home.หลังรัฐประหาร ๒๒ พฤษภาคม ๒๕๕๗ คณะรัฐประหารสั่งให้พ่อไปรายงานตัว พ่อไม่ไป และเดินทางออกนอกประเทศ แล้วไม่ได้กลับบ้านอีกเลย
